ux + UI design
BRZBuilder is an app concept I came up with as an avid car enthusiast and BRZ owner. The modification community is huge for this car model. This app would give people the ability to visualize exactly what their car would look like with different mods, and to create wishlists and place orders for their desired mods.
Before sketching, I listed out the key goals/functionalities of the app:
1. Search for mods and allow the user to organize them for future reference.
2. Allow users to visualize their car with different mods on it.
3. To function as a one-stop-shop for modifications and allow companies to advertise.
4. Introduce a social aspect to allow users to share their favorite mods and builds with friends.
After identifying my main goals, I sketched out a couple different ideas for the home page, as well as the flow of initial setup.
I used InVision Studio to mockup and prototype the app for iPhone. I made further edits to the designs while mocking them up, paying attention to current design trends (such as color gradients and rounded borderless card styles). I also frequented Apple's Human Interface Guidelines to make sure the designs were following the best practices for iPhone. Using InVision Studio's motion transitions I was able to play around with certain animations, like the color select carousel.
